Are You Ready for Assisted Living?

How do I know if I’m ready for assisted living?
Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Am I having trouble with daily activities like dressing, bathing, cooking, driving, taking prescribed medication, getting to appointments, etc.?
  • Am I requiring significant outside help from others that might not always be available when I need it?
  • Am I eating well?
  • Getting any exercise?
  • Keeping my brain stimulated?
  • If I fall, how long will it be before I’m found?
  • Am I forgetting important things?
Does the state of Wyoming regulate assisted living facilities?
The department of Wyoming Healthcare and Licensing regulates operations within assisted living – its building;  safety procedures; food preparation; menu planning; activities, etc.  There are regular, unannounced visits by state representatives to ensure compliance.

Service Plans & Safety

Do you help manage medications?
Yes, we can help individuals to ensure they are taking the proper prescribed dose at the proper times.   We also can assist in ordering the prescribed medications so the resident is never without their medications.
How is an individual’s level of care determined?
Prior to move in individuals and their family member(s) will meet with our Registered Nurse and Resident Care Director to establish where and how we can be of service.  As a group we listen to where you would like assistance from us and what you would prefer to handle on your own.  We then design a service plan specific to your wishes and needs and discuss that level of care with you.

Costs

What does assisted living cost, and how can I pay for it?
The cost to live at Agape Manor is based on each residents individualized service plan and room rental fee.  We can help you understand your costs prior to planning a move.  Many clients utilize long term are insurance; equity in their home; and savings to pay for assisted living.  Many receive financial help from their family members.
Is there financial assistance available for the costs associated with assisted living?
The Veteran’s Affairs program has some great benefits for veterans, spouses, and surviving spouses.  The funds can be utilized at an approved assisted living, such as Agape Manor.

Medicare does not pay for assisted living.  We’ve found the Wyoming Medicaid program to not be a viable option for assisted living.

How do the meals and dining room seating work? Are 3 meals a day served? What if residents would like snacks in between meals?
Agape Manor serves 3 home cooked, nutritious meals each day.  Residents have a choice of at least two options at every meal.   Our dining service is restaurant style.   There are no assigned seats and residents choose where they would like to sit at each meal.

We also take orders and the table and deliver their food to the table.  There are no trays or lines to wait in at meal times.   If residents would like to snack in between meals we have provided refrigerators and microwaves in each apartment so snacks are readily available for those times.

What are the meal times and do I have to attend all meals?
Breakfast is served from 7:00am to 8:30am, Lunch 12:00pm to 1:00pm, and supper 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

While we encourage residents to attend all meals even to simply have a beverage and socialize we respect their choice if they would like to skip a meal.

Some of our residents choose to keep breakfast items in their apartments and have a later breakfast in their room.
